After a couple of unexpected school day closures due to snowy conditions, we set off to St. John the Baptist National School in Midleton for a choir lesson with Peter Stobart, musical director in St FinBarre’s Cathedral. Unfortunately, some schools were unable to come due to the inclement conditions, but we had a good time. Afterwards we travelled to Cobh Heritage Centre and learned about the Titanic, the Lusitania and the Irish emigrants; before popping into Cobh Cathedral for a look around.
At present, we’re engaged in The Million Steps, a local initiative to get the children in Fermoy up and walking. The children are thoroughly enjoying their step counters and beating their own scores each day.
Searching for Easter eggs in the Town Park was once again a pleasure for children of Adair School. Apparently, it is now a tradition, they tell me!
We were delighted to hear that past pupil Olwyn Buckley received a medal for Gaeilge in the UCC Plus Student Achievement Awards. Congratulations to her.
Gareth, Margaret and Daniel from Postal Bible School arrived, sang, played games, told stories and brought gifts for the children. As usual, they were the very welcomed guests! We are very thankful to the Hovivians who are going to help with assemblies on Fridays.
