I'm looking out the window and I'm thinking how lucky the children are in this school to have people who love teaching and minding them, and.such a beautiful playground with lots of sweet grass to play in.This year Miss Jeffery and Miss Shorten have swapped jobs: Alison teaches in the Junior classroom and Laura takes over the role of Learniing Support/Resource teacher.I'm in the senior room, Heather Fleming still is the Mummy in the school ( That means she does everything!), Eleanor Condon is our wonderful SNA, Margaret O'Dwyer keeps the inside of school deep down cleaned, Stevie McDonald maintains the out of doors and Canon Eithne Lynch leads a team of super Board of Management volunteers who steer the school with care and good judgement. What more could you ask for?
This year, an Educate Together school opens in Fermoy and I wonder how it will effect our school in the future.I guess I'm not very happy about this, and I hope parents have the good sense to realize that our school have been educating children together for over two hundred years and secondly, that children who are never offered an opportunity to learn about Jesus actually miss an opportunity to either accept or reject him. The Christian narrative underpins our culture in this part of the world and a lack of knowledge in this area leaves a child with something less than a holistic education.
That's the cross bit done with,,,, and now I'm looking forward to teaching all those those gorgeous little children with their beautiful, smiling faces that I borrow from their parents for a patch of each day!! Away we go!!!!!
